A good stand manufactured by an Indian manufacturer
Let me begin with what I liked about the stand when compared with the common ones in the market.
The base is cast metal and has some heft to it, this helps prevent it from tipping over or moving about during use. I faced this issue with a couple of previous stands.
The iron receptacle is sized to Soldron irons so it's a snug fit, this prevents the iron from slipping into it. Also, it has a double cage construction, the outer one ensures that no part of the hot iron would come into contact with objects outside (including my hand)
The receptacle attaches to a notch on the base via a thumb screw. The notch prevents the former from wobbling about the base. The thumbscrew allows for installation without tools and also lets me detatch the stand easily when I need to travel.
It also has a recess for holding the sponge. Aside from being convenient, it allow some wetness to remain under the sponge and also prevents it from moving about.
So, long story short, it's a good stand and to put a cherry on top, it's manufactured by an India company and the price is low.
